UFC Vet Frank Mir was cage side for the Oklahoma promotion Xtreme Fight Night on Saturday night November 9 at the River Spirit Casino in Tulsa, Oklahoma. The event featured an eight-man single-night heavyweight tournament with $10,000 to the winner. Fighters also received a $500 bonus for KOs, and the fighter who scored the KO of the Night received a $1000 bonus.
Featured fighters include Haze “The Hooligan” Wilson, Daniel “Big Kansas” Gallemore, Rasheem Jones, Chris “Beast Boy” Barnett, MMA legend Tony Lopez, bare-knuckle fighter Eric Lunsford, knockout artist Jefe Hodges, and “The Giant” Darion Abbey.
In the MMA 155lbs division, we saw Joe Palo go against Nick Fields. Palo’s grappling was the deciding factor. As he held Field’s down all 3 rounds and dropped some good shots on Field’s to coast to an easy unanimous decision.
In the Kickboxing Light Heavyweight division, we saw Devine White take on Andrew Clayborn. It was a back and forth fight with a lot of action with White coming out with a split decision victory.
Fight fans also saw an MMA 145lb fight with Edgar Alcantara taking on Nick O’Brien. Fans saw O’Brien dominating from start to finish. Alcantara was not ready/prepared for O’Brien’s striking and grappling. O’Brien ended the fight just after the first minute of the first round via armbar.
In a Kickboxing bout, Mike Cook met Bryan Porritt. We saw an action-packed back and forth fight. Cook wins a tough unanimous decision.
In the Kickboxing Heavyweight match, Terrance Hodges meets Haze Wilson. This fight was a back and forth war. Hodges relentless offense was just too much for Wilson. Wilson never fully recovered from the knockdown in round 2 and was TKO’d midway through the 3rd round.
Chris Barnett vs Tony Lopez was a fight were fight fans were waiting to see. Barnett’s speed, power, and agility was just too much for the seasoned veteran in Lopez. This fight went to Barnett as he won by unanimous decision.
In the Kickboxing Heavyweight division, we saw Rasheem Jones take on Daniel Gallemore. Fans saw Gallemore knockdown Jones twice in the first round from which Jones never recovered from. Gallemore knocked out Jones violently in the 2nd that left Jones down on the ground for several minutes.
Next up was we saw a Kickboxing Heavyweight bout, Darion Abbey met Eric Lunsford. We saw Lunsford fought off an early onslaught from Abbey. Lunford was able to KO Abbey after brutally breaking Abbey’s nose.
Next in line was another Kickboxing Heavyweight match as Terrance Hodges took on Chris Barnett
In a tough back and forth fight, Hodged lands a big shot to start the round that puts Barnett to the canvass and Barnett could not beat the count.
The next Kickboxing Heavyweight match was Eric Lunsford taking on Daniel Gallamore. Wow what a fight. Lunsford survived the early onslaught from Gallamore to go on to TKO Gallamore in the 2nd. Both men were exhausted after the fight
In the MMA 130lb fight, we saw Albert Mendoza meet TJ Arrington. Arrington lands a hard knee to the body that drops Mendoza and finishes off Mendoza with strikes. Then on top of the win goes on to ask his girlfriend to marry him. Which she replied yes.
To finish the night, we saw the Heavyweight Kickboxing Tournament Championship bout as Eric Lunsford wet against Terrance Hodges. The finals showed the heart of 2 lions. As an exhausted Lunsford and Hodges. Both fighters threw till the very end. Terrance Hodges edges out the unanimous decision to win the tournament and taking home the $10k purse.
