UFC champion Jon Jones arrested for DWI, negligent use of a firearm

UFC champion Jon Jones has been arrested for Driving While Intoxicated, negligent use of a firearm and possession of an open container, according to reports.

Accord to a local news station, KOAT, in Albuquerque, New Mexico UFC light heavyweight champion Jon Jones has been arrested, yet again. The report states that Jones, who has had multiple run-ins with the law, was “arrested on charges of driving under the influence, negligent use of a firearm and possession of an open counter early Thursday morning.”

The report states that Jones was arrested after officers responded to a call at 3rd Street and Central Avenue just after 1 a.m. after someone had reported that shots were fired. The officers allegedly noticed signs of intoxication and Jones admitted he planned to drive. Jones was found in his car with the engine running, according to police and he admitted to have been drinking earlier in the day.

Jones “performed poorly” on the field sobriety test and was flagged by the Breathalyzer for twice the legal limit. Jones denied any knowledge of the gunshots but the police found a “black handgun under the driver’s seat and a half-empty bottle of Recuerdo 750ml behind the passenger seat.”

This is Jones’ second DWI arrest.
