Donald Cerrone won’t be riding UFC CEO Dana White’s prized bull in the foreseeable future.

In preparation to ride White’s bull Twisted Steel at a Professional Bull Riders event next month, Cerrone revealed he suffered a fully torn bicep during a practice run in an Instagram post earlier this week.

“As yall know I was set to ride [Dana White’s Twisted Steel] at the PBR world finals May 18,” Cerrone wrote. “I was just rushed into surgery with 100 percent bicep tear off the bone!!! Guess you mess with the bull, you sometimes get the horns.

“This is not the end. I will rehab and get back after it.”

The longtime UFC competitor provided an update post-surgery, plus more of a behind the scenes description of how the injury occurred hours later — including nasty bruising on the injured arm.

“Cowboy” retired from MMA competition following a submission loss to Jim Miller at UFC 276 in July 2022 — Cerrone’s sixth straight defeat. The 41-year-old ended his career with 55 fights on record, including 38 in the UFC’s octagon, and another 10 for WEC. Cerrone once challenged for the UFC lightweight title, and has also shared the octagon with the likes of Conor McGregor, Robbie Lawler, Jorge Masvidal, Darren Till, Nate Diaz, and countless other big names throughout his 11-plus year run in the promotion.
