WWE set to host event at UFC Apex

After joining forces late last year, we are now starting to see some signs of the UFC and WWE working together. The latest connection between the two company's was announced when World Wrestling Entertainment revealed they would host an event at the UFC Apex in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Just 7 months ago, Endeavor–the UFC's parent company–announced it had finalized a $21 billion merger with WWE. Since then, the two promotions have largely operated completely separate, but that could all be about to change.

As announced by Shawn Michaels, WWE will present NXT Battleground at the UFC Apex on Sunday, June 9.

"We are always exploring new frontiers to showcase NXT," explained Shawn Michaels. "We are excited to bring Battleground to this world-class event and production facility in partnership with UFC."

NXT is responsible for the development of professional wrestling's next big star.

Since its initial rebrand in 2012, NXT has helped create some of the very best wrestlers in the world. Finn Balor, Shinsuke Nakamura, Asuka, Adam Cole, Seth Rollins, and Becky Lynch are just some of the elite talent that honed their craft inside the NXT ring.

As the developmental brand continues to find new ways to grow, it will now use its partnership with the UFC to help do so.

Although the UFC Apex is a great facility, it has come under fire from MMA fans of late. During the pandemic, viewers loved seeing their favorite fighters compete amid the global panic that ensued in 2020, though that quickly changed.

Once things returned to normal, fans have been urging the UFC to use the Apex venue much less. While there are mixed reviews among fighters, supporters believe the absence of atmosphere often ruins the viewing experience.

Although they're planning to expand the attendance to 1,000, the UFC Apex currently only seats 500 people.
